Search engine optimisation in Canterbury

We are a search studio in Canterbury. We help local businesses get found: in Google, in the map results, and in the AI tools people now ask for a recommendation.

Being good at what you do is not enough on its own

Most of the businesses we work with are already good. Clinics, practices, and small firms with a real local reputation. The problem is rarely the service. It is that someone searching for exactly what they offer never sees them. A competitor with a worse service has a better-built website, so they win the enquiry.

That is a solvable problem. And it is usually a technical one before it is a marketing one.

How we work

Three stages, in order. Each one earns the next. You can stop after any of them.

1

Start with an audit

We check how easy your site is to find in Google and in AI search. We check how fast it loads. We check where visitors give up. You get a plain list of what to fix, in the order worth fixing.

2

Fix or rebuild

Some sites can be improved as they are. Others cannot. The audit tells you which yours is. If a rebuild makes more sense, the audit fee comes off the cost.

3

Keep it working

Search is not a one-off job. Monthly work covers content, your Google Business Profile, and the upkeep that stops a good site sliding down the results.

A Canterbury site we built

The Pickle Jar Therapy

The Pickle Jar Therapy is a therapy practice here in Canterbury. We built and launched their site, and it has been running since.

Crawl-access checks

How this was measured: 25 of 28 first-year clients were recorded via direct contact form submissions and phone enquiry logs over the practice's first 12 months post-launch. PageSpeed figures are lab scores from a mobile test on 23 August 2026 (run test live →). Crawl-access checks confirm that key content is available without client-side rendering and relevant crawler directives are in place.

What local search actually depends on

Four things decide whether someone in Canterbury finds you. None of them is a trick. All of them can be fixed.

Being clear about where you are

Search engines need to know which town you serve. Only then can they show you to people in it. So your address, service area and business details must agree everywhere they appear.

Your Google Business Profile

For a local business this often matters more than the website. Your categories, services, photos, questions and reviews all feed the map results.

A site that loads quickly on a phone

Most local searches happen on a phone, often outdoors on a weak signal. A site that takes five seconds to load has already lost people who were ready to call.

Turning up in AI answers

More people now ask ChatGPT or Google's AI overview for a recommendation. They no longer scroll a list. These tools can only suggest a business whose site they can read.

Where most people start

An audit tells you what is wrong before you spend anything on fixing it. If you go on to order a rebuild within 30 days, the fee comes off.

It is a fixed price and a fixed scope. You get a written report and a call to walk through it, not a PDF dumped in your inbox.

SEO Diagnostic Audit

A full diagnosis of why your site is not being found, and what to do about it, in priority order.

£450
  • How findable you are in Google and in AI search
  • Core Web Vitals and real-world loading speed
  • Where visitors drop out before enquiring
  • Your Google Business Profile and local listings
  • A prioritised list of fixes, worth-first

Credited in full against a rebuild commissioned within 30 days.

Frequently asked questions about SEO in Canterbury

Do you only work with businesses in Canterbury?

No. We work across Kent and the rest of the UK. Most of the work happens the same way wherever you are. Being local helps with the parts that benefit from meeting face to face. It also means we know the area you compete in.

How long does local SEO take to work?

Results usually take three to six months to move. The first three months are mostly groundwork. Anyone promising page one in a fortnight is either misleading you, or measuring something that does not matter. We do not promise set rankings. They depend on your competitors, and on changes nobody controls.

What is the difference between local SEO and ordinary SEO?

Local SEO decides whether you show up when someone searches with a place in mind. It leans more on your Google Business Profile, your address details and your reviews. The technical groundwork underneath is the same either way.

Do I need a new website, or can you improve the one I have?

That is what the audit answers. Plenty of sites are worth improving. Some are built in a way that keeps costing you. It is cheaper to say so early than to spend six months patching. You get a straight answer either way. The audit fee comes off a rebuild if you order one within 30 days.

Do you handle our Google Business Profile as well?

Yes, as part of the monthly work. That covers posts and photo updates. It keeps the Q&A section current. We watch your reviews and draft replies for you to approve, and we keep your categories and service list accurate.

What does it cost to get started?

£450 for the diagnostic audit, or £750 if you want the rebuild preview included. Ongoing monthly work is £600 a month for the first six months, then £1,200 a month on a rolling contract with 30 days notice.
