How much of my time will this take?

Around six to ten hours spread over six to eight weeks, and most of it lands in the first fortnight. The thing that stretches a build is not how much work you do, it is how long decisions sit waiting. That is the one part we cannot do for you.

Six to eight weeks, with research and copy included rather than quoted separately. What a build includes

Around six to ten hours of your time in total, across six to eight weeks. Most of it in the first fortnight.

That is the honest estimate rather than a comfortable one. It is worth knowing before you start, because the usual reason a build takes five months instead of seven weeks is not the work. It is decisions waiting.

Where the hours actually go

The opening conversation, one to two hours. What you do, who for, what you charge, what you turn down, what people misunderstand about your field. This is the part nobody else can supply, and it is worth doing properly rather than in a rushed half hour between appointments.

Questions as they come up, about an hour, spread out. Small factual things. What happens at a first appointment. Whether you take referrals from other practices. What the parking is like.

Reading the copy, two to three hours. The biggest single block after the first conversation. You read what we wrote and mark what is wrong, overstated, or not how you would say it. Marking up a draft is quick. Writing from nothing is what takes people months.

Looking at designs, an hour. Not as long as people expect, because the words are already agreed by then, so there is less to argue about.

Checking it before launch, an hour or two. Click through as though you were a customer. Test the form. Read your own prices back and make sure they are the ones you charge now.

What actually slows a build down

Not your workload. Two specific things.

Approvals sitting. A draft sent on Tuesday and read three weeks later costs three weeks, and there is nothing at this end that can absorb it. If you know a fortnight is going to be impossible, say so at the start and we will plan around it rather than chase you through it.

Facts that only one person has. Usually the person on holiday. Price lists, professional registration details, the exact wording of something regulated. It helps to know early who that person is.

If you are the bottleneck, say so early

Some people genuinely do not have six hours in a fortnight, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.

It is workable. It means a longer timeline agreed at the start rather than a seven week plan that quietly becomes five months and feels like failure. Tell us what is realistic and the schedule gets built around it.

What this estimate assumes

One person who can make decisions without a committee. Builds involving several partners or a board take longer, not because there is more work, but because agreement takes calendar time. If three people have to approve the copy, say so at the start so it is in the plan.
